346  Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Multiple Remote Editor's for different file type extensions on: November 04, 2005, 08:12:11 AM
Great to hear 1.1.5 is going well Smiley

What you're after is already present! Although I have to admit I would like to make it simpler to configure in a future version.

You need to select the Suffix Mapping table from the Transfer menu. In there you will see just about every known file name extension, with separate transfer controls for each. For each one you can specify an editor application - look at the Helper Application section at the bottom, and the 'Use as default editor' checkbox.

The reason that the Finder info window is used is that it contains a lot of controls over the item in question, including permissions. We could spend a lot of time re-implementing what the Finder provides, but quite honestly I think it's better that the Finder is left to do its job. There are also many complications that would arise out of such a development - for example having to bring up the Authorization window in order to change some settings, as the Finder does. I do appreciate your point, but I think development time is better spent making Yummy better in other areas. Feel free to convince me otherwise Smiley

One thing that will probably help a lot with your particular scenario is that the Mac listing has a Permissions column, so you can see the permissions right there.

Additionally, if you are using SFTP, there is an option in the Preferences which will automatically synchronize the permissions of transferred items.

Regarding the floating window, yes it could be done. I see your point about obscuring the listing. It's interesting to note that there has been much feedback in the past which indicates that the floating Info window in other FTP clients is not liked, and the 'attached' window is preferred. Maybe a preference is in order.

Hi Andreas!

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for your kind words about Yummy FTP Smiley

It's never been reported before, but what you've described does indeed sound like a little bug. Your suspicion is probably correct about the type-ahead feature of the FTP Browser window grabbing the key events before the menu can get to process them. I'll look into it - thanks for brining it to my attention.

Could you check that the file on your Mac, as shown in the alert, is actually present and that you can open it with, for example, a text editor?
