Login retries lock out LDAP logins
« on: March 03, 2015, 08:21:21 PM »
Where I work, we use Active Directory/LDAP for authentication. Most servers I log into use this, and it's mostly convenient. One issue I've run into is the "three strikes and you're out!" rule. If I use a wrong password three times, I get locked out of everything. Can't get email, can't log into servers, can't use WiFi, and other things that use AD/LDAP. To fix the problem, one can call the help desk to get your password reset, or just wait more than 30 minutes for the lock out to expire.

Today when I tried to log into a server that I'd not logged into for a long while, with YummyFTP, I got locked out. I tried to log in ONCE with YummyFTP, not 3 times. Once. How does YummyFTP (version 1.10.2.b6 on Yosemite 10.10.2) do its logins? Is there a retry setup? Can I alter it?

I suspect there is no retry setup in YummyFTP, and that our stupid AD/LDAP server is hosed. Just in case, I'd like to know how YummyFTP works.
Thanks

Yummy will attempt to login once only. If it gets an authentication failure from the server it will display a message since there's no point trying again with a rejected login.
