Maintain permissions

Hi,

When I upload files using sftp, the file permissions are preserved, although I have unchecked 'maintain permissions of transferred files'.

I'm using Leopard.

The issue is also there when I'm using scp or sftp via command line.

Interesting. Is the server also running Leopard?

No, it's a linux server. I know someone who uploaded to the server without any problems using tiger. Using windows I can upload ok too.

Just goes to show that latest does not necessarily equal greatest. Leopard really is terribly buggy!

Well, I've tested this with Yummy v1.7.1b5 on 10.5.1 and pre-release 10.5.2 and it seems to be working correctly.

Did you perform an upgrade install of Leopard? If so, this is known to be full of problems and you should do a clean install instead.

I've done a clean install of Leopard.

The problem occurs only on the servers at my work I've noticed now. Nothing wrong with my personal shared hosting.

Do you have any idea where we can start looking?

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I can help you any further, to be honest. I think you need to start looking at your work's servers, since they are the ones exhibiting a problem. Actually, the very fact that Yummy and command line SFTP and SCP all behaved the same way is evidence of that, since obviously they are all very different apps.

One more question then... Isn't yummyftp using the sftp command ? It uses his own library and settings?

No, Yummy has it's own private SFTP implementation. Command line SFTP is not used.
