Topic: SFTP leave permissions not working? (Read 485 times)

I recently switched from PC to Mac and tried about half a dozen FTP clients (Transmit, Interarchy, Fetch, Cyberduck, etc.). Yummy FTP was the best of the lot! It's the closest to my favorite CuteFTP Pro from the Windows world. So, my workflow didn't have to change much, YummyFTP was the perfect choice.
But... there is one glitch that still dogs me - I work with *nix hosts via SFTP almost exclusively and I need to be sure the permissions of newly created files obey the shell permissions set by the SFTP environment for each host. But YummyFTP seems to always copy the permissions from the Mac side for new files. I checked off the box for "Maintain permissions of transferred files (SFTP Only)" and also checked off "Set permissions of uploaded files". However, newly uploaded files always carry their permissions from the Mac side and I have to change them after upload. If I choose to set specific permissions under Server Options, it does set whatever I choose. But I have different host environments that have different permission requirements, so that doesn't work so well.
FYI - if the file already exists on the host side, it does maintain the permissions correctly. It's only new files that carry their Mac permissions over.

Sorry, that didn't fix it. Still won't leave permissions alone. Here are some details on what I'm seeing -
1) File on the Mac has permissions set to 700.
2) Connect via SFTP to user account with a umask of "022", which should default all new files to 644.
3) Upload file and see that it's 700, not 644.
4) Do Get Info and set to 644 manually.
Further, I can go to a Windows PC, run CuteFTP Pro on the same host and same file and the permissions are 644 after upload as expected.

A little off topic but did you know that they make CuteFTP for the Mac? I know because I use it on one of my computers.

Yes, I knew that and it was my first test. However, the Mac version of CuteFTP Pro does not have the same functionality as the Windows version. For example, no sync browsing. It's not equivalent to the Windows version as you might expect. Yummy FTP is much closer in feature set to Windows CuteFtp Pro.
