Customizing the tool bar question
« on: October 31, 2006, 09:24:10 AM »

How do I get a consistent tool bar across all bookmarks/windows?  That's driving me nuts.  I don't want to have to customize the tool bar every time I create a new bookmark.

Thanks.

Great product BTW.

You have most likely enabled the 'Independent window settings' option in the Interface tab of the Preferences - it is not enabled by default.

When enabled, this allows each Bookmark retains its own settings for the toolbar configuration, window position, size, etc.

When disabled, a single toolbar configuration is used for all FTP Browser windows.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.  I turned that off.  Any easy way or prefs hack to make all of them the same?

Thanks!

BTW, I evaluated a LOT of FTP clients before purchasing and Yummy won hands down.

Once that option is turned off, all your Bookmarks will the same toolbar configuration, so I'm not sure what you want to hack exactly? The option seems to be working as expected for me.

Anyway, this issue aside, I'm glad to hear Yummy did so well Smiley

Once I turned it off, the toolbars stayed on each bookmarked window.  I guess my question is, do I need to go into each one an drag things around or is there a plist I can edit to make the bars look the same on each bookmark?

Thanks

Once the option is off, the toolbars should automatically sync when you change them - by dragging an item around, or whatever. That's certainly the behavior I'm seeing here.

The Bookmark-specific toolbar config is stored in the Bookmark file itself and is not editable by you. The global toolbar config is stored in Yummy's .plist file: com.yummysoftware.yummy-ftp.plist and this is located in your Preferences folder.

Bummer, didn't work that way for me.  I opened the one bookmark that I want the rest to look like, added something to the tool bar, clicked done.  Then opened another bookmark window and no change.

Those exact steps work for me - they both have the same toolbar config.

Let's check :

The 'Independent window settings' checkbox in the Preferences should be un-checked

Version 1.5.2

Mac OS X  10.4.8

Anyone else with the problem?

ALERT, DUMB USER ERROR.  I unchecked it before but somehow that didn't stay.  I just looked and it was checked. Unchecked and the window changed..
