File moving in local window
« on: December 22, 2005, 07:52:14 AM »

I am trying to move a file from a subfolder to its parent by clicking and dragging, but it wont move. I have been working around it for a while by draging the file to the desktop and then dragging it to the folder I want it placed in...

My question is, should I be able to move files and folders around in the left (local) window of YumyFTP...or is this not an option?

Thanks,
 Brandon

Yes, local file management is fully supported.

Since I've never heard of a problem in this area, please send a screen shot of your attempt to drop the file onto the parent directory. I'm looking for clues as to why this might fail, so I'd like to see the problem in action first of all.

Thanks,
Jason

ive located the problem...it seems with FileVault activated, anything within the home directory is unmovable within the window...get info, delete and duplicate also do not work.

I started troubleshooting by closing out software, disabling startup items and rebooting a few times thinking it may have been a confliction with another wares...

Next I navigated down to the HD thru Yummy and was able to perform all the tasks fine, but once you get into the home area everything is locked.

I have filevault disabled now, and it all works fine...here is my system and software info to help you work this bug...let me know if I can help or if you need more info.

Mac OSX 10.3.9
1GHz PowerPC G4
2 GB DDR SDRAM

Yummy FTP
Version 1.1.5

Thanks for your help and good luck,

It appears that this is a bug in the OS when File Vault is enabled. The same bug affects other applications, for example Apple's own Automator app in Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and any AppleScript which makes file system calls within the home folder protected by File Vault.

While I think it's unlikely that Apple will fix this bug in 10.3.9, it's certain that they will want Automator to work correctly, since it's one of the new features for 10.4, so sooner or later it will be fixed in a Software Update.

That is interesting it was carried over from the old to the new, thanks for the update.

Keep up the good work, I use your software daily and enjoy it very much.

Thanks again,
Brandon
