166  Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Show color labels in filebrowser on: May 30, 2006, 11:22:08 AM
Sure. I had another request for this not so long ago.

It's quite trivial to add, although there is one downside:

Yummy currently uses the same label coloring mechanism to denote certain file/folder characteristics, for example if you use Filters then items which are excluded by the filters are labeled in red. Similarly, using the Search facility, items matching the search criteria are labelled in green.

Since there's no good alternative (at the moment) to indicate Filtered/Search matched items as well as maintaining the Finder label color, I proprose that Finder label colors will only show up when Filters and Search is not being used.

If this sounds reasonable, I can most likely implement the required changes for the 1.5.1 update I'm working on.

Don't start asking me to port Yummy FTP to Windows.......  Cheesy
168  Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Suggestion: Pause download on: May 29, 2006, 02:16:20 PM
The "Transfer / Pause" option does not require the Mac browser to be clicked first. It doesn't matter which browser is currently focused.

The option was created with the Queue in mind, allowing the user to pause individually queued transfers. In the case of no queue items being selected, the first item in the queue is chosen automatically.

A Pause All / Resume All option would probably make more sense for the menu bar Smiley

Thanks for the feedback!

Ah, well the alpha and numeric representation in the listing is non-standard, and probably confusing Yummy.

Please send me an FTP Transcript of your session once you've seen incorrect icons. I can then examine the listing data to see what's going on.

Thanks!

Hmm, I would call that a bug.

Fixed now. Thanks for spotting it Smiley

Take a look in your Transcript - does the server supply numerical permissions?
172  Yummy Software / Announcements / Beta Test on: May 28, 2006, 11:59:39 AM
A build of the latest version of Yummy FTP will always be available upon request for beta testing purposes. If you'd like to take part in testing, please send me an email at the support email address.

Right now, a 1.5.1 beta is available

Thanks,
Jason

Weird. Everything works fine here.

Let me know if dumping the plist file sorts it out. The icon display bug is definitely only when the Numeric Permissions option is enabled.

tu11ym0n - you found it Smiley

Fixed!

Hey Smiley

That's interesting about the icon permissions display. paulc brought it up as an issue a couple of days ago, but I didn't get a chance to check it out before 1.5 was released. I'm surprised it works any differently than the 1.1.5 release - I certainly didn't change anything in that area at all!

If I find something, I'll include it in the inevitable 1.5.1 update

Point taken Smiley

I'll review the behavior in Yummy FTP.
177  Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Folder Size? on: May 26, 2006, 06:03:16 AM
Just about everything can be executed asynchronously in Yummy FTP - it's not down to the protocol itself, since this is entirely synchronous, but since Yummy uses several connections at once it can use those resources to perform many tasks at once, calculating folder sizes included. If, however, a server is limited to only allowing one connection at a time then this automatic folder size calculation would block any other actions until completed - not what you want.

There's no technical reason why this capability couldn't be added, but certainly, a preference would be in order if this automatic behavior is something that others would like also. Votes please!
178  Yummy FTP / Yummy FTP Talk / Re: Yummy FTP 'Lite' on: May 24, 2006, 04:04:24 PM
For some background for the 'masses' ... Wolfgang is the author of the German localization of Yummy FTP 1.5 Smiley We started discussing this topic via email, but thought it was best to continue here.

Just to put the record straight, Yummy does already have Bonjour and Growl support, the Bookmark drawer is planned for later and further localizations are already under way. I think that the Widget provides little more than eye candy, so I won't waste time on it, especially considering it's one item drop limitation, and the existance of Yummy's own FTP Alias feature.

Certainly, one of the major features of Yummy FTP is it's speed. The Lite version will of course tout this as a major advantage over the competition, free or otherwise.

The automatic Bookmark import is a nice idea. I should definitely do that for new users, even non-Lite ones.

The discount ideas are interesting. I'll have a think about those.

I agree. I've added it to my To Do list.
180  Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Folder Size? on: May 24, 2006, 09:43:05 AM
Well, I never thought for it to work like that .... what did you say about great minds?  Cheesy

In all honesty, though, would you really want it to automatically start fetching all the listing data for every single directory just so it can calculate and display the sizes? Surely it makes sense just to fetch all that data on demand, no?
