226  Yummy Software / General / Re: Whats the purpose of Favorites if you have Bookmarks? on: April 12, 2006, 01:27:40 PM
I think maybe you're confusing Bookmarks with Transmit's Favorites.

A Bookmark is a saved set of details with which you connect to a server.

A Favorite is an often visited folder.

Note that the Favorites are stored per Bookmark.

Firstly, yes - you can open multiple windows in Yummy, either to different servers or the same server and drag and drop between the windows. Just open more connections using the Bookmarks you have created, or use the New Connection window.

I'm aiming to add tab capability for the next major update after the upcoming release.

Thanks!

Thanks, demental. So far, everyone who has tried the UB has been impressed with the speed improvements and reports no problems whatsoever. Very encouraging Smiley

A Universal Binary is ready for testing. If anyone wants to give it a run, let me know: support at yummysoftware dot com

Thanks!

demental: I have Yummy running natively on my shiny new Intel Mac Mini Grin

There are some issues to clear up, but on the whole it's working very well, and very fast!

I expect to be able to provide a Universal Binary beta within the next few days or so... Stay tuned!

Thanks, suzerain Grin

Good suggestion - I'll include this example script, plus some additional useful odds and ends, in the forthcoming major (free) update that I'm working on right now.

The person who I originally wrote the AppleScript for emailed me back with the original script, which reminded me that I didn't tell BBEdit to save the document first... Thanks, Adam!

tell application "BBEdit"
   save front document
set thefile to file of front document
end tell

tell application "Yummy FTP"
   open thefile
end tell

Sure, here it is:

tell application "BBEdit"
set thefile to file of front document
end tell

tell application "Yummy FTP"
   open thefile
end tell

Very simple... but it works!

Of course, this assumes that you've already set up AutoRoute in the Bookmarked servers you're using.

I just wanted to add that although I've said previously that I would make another PowerPC-only release before working on the Universal Binary of Yummy FTP, I've made such good progress so far that I'm going to go back on that - the next release of Yummy FTP will be a Universal Binary.

Yes, thinking about this some more over the last couple of days I realised that I'd become just yet another hoster in the sea of the thousands out there. I'd rather concentrate my limited time on development Smiley

Since many people have asked about the possibility of Yummy supporting the .Mac iDisk (otherwise known as WebDAV) I am looking into it Wink

Yummy FTP is now building as a Universal Binary. Yay! Smiley

Don't get over excited yet, though - I have a fair bit of byte swapping to do and that's a long and tedious job, especially when I don't yet have an Intel Mac to test with...

But the good news is that I managed to scrape together the funds to get a Mac Mini Intel Core Solo! Should arrive next week sometime. Grin

You're welcome Smiley

Welcome to the forum and thank you for purchasing Yummy FTP!

I understand that quite few people are using Yummy FTP as an FTP backup utility, so it's a popular use of the software. I'm glad to hear you find it useful too Smiley

1. Yes, better logging is on my To Do list
2. Pausing transfers and syncs, including scheduled ones, is in the latest beta build
3. Something which has been raised before. There are existing ways of doing this, such as cron jobs, and other scheduling applications, but I would like to make it built into Yummy FTP at some point.
4. No, I think Yummy FTP should remain focused on Internet file transfer. HD backups is something best left to apps that specialize in that sort of thing.
5. Could be an idea... though I seem to recall that the Cute FTP makers had something similar, albeit not with the unattended backup feature you're suggesting.

Thanks for the feedback!
